Truth be told we can't use mathematics to show whether they're substitutes or not: There are too many variables. You use examples after the Vita Price cut but you assume that 3DS sales would have stayed constant if it were not for the price cut which is poor in itself. Basically: we can't say anything without some sort of control group which is very hard to do on a large scale like this.
