Halo 4 hit big milestones Monday with the release of the third and final DLC, the Castle Map Pack, and the launch of the Competitive Skill Rank (CSR). To mark the occasion, Microsoft has declared this to be "Halo Week" with the chance to earn Avatar items for plus a sale on all DLC including the War Games Map Pass.
The CSR introduces a new 1-50 level ranking system meant to match players together based on skill in multiplayer playlists. Starting today, April 8 and running through April 22, anyone that reaches a CSR level of 35 in the Castle Team DLC playlist will receive an exclusive Avatar tee.
Another way to earn a free Avatar tee is to complete any five missions of Spartan Ops starting Thursday, April 11 at 5 a.m. EST until Friday, April 12 at 5 a.m. EST. 343 Industries has also reset the Spartan Ops playlist to start with the first episode this week.
Those interested in earning more experience can do so starting Wednesday, April 10. 343 Industries will flip the switch on new "Extra XP" challenges in War Games, Spartan Ops and Campaign. New challenges will be added in each game mode for Halo 4 to give players a chance to earn more XP.
Also coming Tuesday, April 9 is the Halo 4 Original Soundtrack Volume 2 for $9.99. It is a 20-track digital release and companion volume featuring expanded landscape of the key musical themes from the game. Eleven of the tracks are composed and produced by Neil Davidge with a further eight by 343 in-house composer Kazuma Jinnouchi. The soundtrack also includes Kazuma’s new interpretation of Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori’s “Never Forget” from Halo 3.
Halo 4 also receives a permanent price drop to $39.99 this week. Meanwhile, the previously released DLC and the Season Pass for the game will be on sale on Friday, April 12. Here are the prices.
