The reason those 3rd parties were saying the Wii U was "underpowered" is because they were trying to do simple copy-paste ports of the games they were currently working on. Those games use a different architecture that emphasizes in-order CPU processing with multithreading. Not a single next gen third party game will utilize that and the engines will all be scalable, so there is no logical reason they shouldn't come to the Wii U. Epic wears large MS money hats and EA has this freakish grudge against Nintendo that seemingly came out of nowhere (leading credence to the whole Origin thing) so that explains their support problems.

Ubisoft, Namco Bandai, Capcom, Platinum, Atlus, Criterion, Crytek, and Slightly Mad all seem to think that the Wii U is worth developing for (and that is just off the top of my head). Crytek has a CryEngine 3 game that "runs beautifully" on the Wii U that isn't from the main division, which likely means it wasn't Crysis 3 they were referring to seeing as that was being done by Frankfurt. There is definitely a disparity between the Wii U and PS4/720(likely), but it isn't NEARLY large enough to keep it from getting 3rd party multiplats. Multiplats tend to be rubbish these days anyway imo. By the time the PS4/720 launch, the Wii U will have a much healthier install base as well, and ignoring it would just be leaving money on the table.

Nintendo did slip up in the post launch, but launch itself was successful. If Ubisoft would have kept to their word (possible MS policy scare?) and released Rayman, thinks might be a bit different. I know they want Pikmin to be incredible, but the delay has hurt. Nintendo will be fine though regardless, they always are....even after the Gamecube. The Wii U is projected to amass 75% of that console's lifetime sales by the end of this year alone, probably becoming profitable on each unit by then as well. Then you've got a proper Zelda, Smash, X (assuming it's not out this year), SMT x FE that will all sell millions and any other Nintendo franchise as well. It is going to be hard to resist [insert franchise] for the first time in HD for a lot of people
