In the USA there are more guns than people and enough bullets to obliterate any number of zombies. 905 of the population of the USA could not be infected a traditional "bite to bit" sense. Once the initial shock of it wears off and people are armed and ready to fight back the zombies will go down fast. All we would need to do is stand on our roofs, call out to the zombies and when they come for dinner shoot them from safety. If it was some kind of airborne cotangent that rapidly infected everyone not naturally immune than I would say there would be little hope for survival. A few could bunker up and wait for the zombies to fall apart. Rural areas could make it, but cities would be a death sentence.

People would die and cities would have it worst, but Americans will have no difficulty arming themselves to fight back.

Assuming we are talking about standard zombie rules.

As for the decomposing of zombie bodies. It wouldn't take long. Unless it's some kind of virus and they aren't actually dead the flesh would break down just as fast as a steak left out in the sun. And if it's winter they would freeze solid for even easier disposal.

Fun topic!
