Their marketing penetration will make Sonys seem like one guy handing out flyers at a gas station......that's how much confidence I have in their ability to generate real buzz.

But only in the US. That is a huge but, because Japan won't even notice there was a new console announced and Europe won't care nearly as much as about PS4.

I was really very, very excited about the PS4 release. Even my father, who hates games (not just computer games, but all kind of games) was a bit hyped about it and watched the whole event with me ;) When it comes to X720 I'm only curious. Not excited, but curious if the really plan to force everyone to buy a Kinect with every system. If they do than X720 will either be noticeably weaker or more expensive than PS4. As I don't care about Kinect, I won't be interested in such a trade off.

Just a quick honest question.  Do you care about the new social/share features of the PS4? (such as the share button on the controller and the ability to allow friends to take over and play your games, etc).

Not even slightly. All I want from them is to be able to disable it easily so that no such stuff pops up and interupts me.

That's what I thought you were goint to say.  So why does Kinect being shipped as a feature of the next Xbox have any bearing on your choice of console?  PS4 has the share/social features baked into the hardware (share button) and the PSN, which you've said you don't care about and hope to disable.  If rumors are true, then the next Xbox will have kinect features baked into the hardware and Xbox Live, which you've also said you don't care about.

So why do either of those things come up when choosing which system to buy?  Considering the specs of the next Xbox haven't been released yet and the price hasn't been released for either console, it's a bit premature to make a decision on that criteria.

Cause there are no miracles. Kinect is a piece of hardware and an expensive one. PS4's stuff is based on software, so it won't raise the manufacturing costs of the console. For me this means that if the consoles cost the same - PS4 will be more powerful, as the money MS puts into Kinect will be put into hardware that I care about in the PS4 (faster RAM or a slightly better GPU). If the consoles are equally powerful, X720 will have to be more expensive to cover the cost of Kinect. Either way that would make me less interested in the MS console. That is why I'm curious if this rumour is true or not and why it can be a very major factor when I choose my next home console.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
