It seems in their zeal to get gun laws passed new york has neglected to make exemptions for police officers to carry more than 7 rounds. so now they are looking to ammend the law, but what i find intersting is the reason given:

"State Senator Eric Adams, a former NYPD Captain, told us he's going to push for an amendment next week to exempt police officers from the high-capacity magazine ban. In his words, "You can't give more ammo to the criminals"

So how many rounds should legal gun owners be allowed to carry? I mean we can't give the criminals more bullets than us? And i thought by making it illegal it wouldn't be a problem and criminals would not have these high capacity clips. If the doesn't keep them out of the hands of criminals what is the actual point except to limit legal gun holders rights? Just seems like a double standard if the cops (who most likely work in pairs or have back up and possibly bullet proof vests) feel they shouldn't be out gunned by criminals why should ordinary citezens?
