Mario Sunshine was OK, but a Mario platformer with no ice/desert/etc. levels is just wrong. And I hated the cinematics.
Mario Galaxy was a masterpiece, the best Nintendo game of the last 10 years easily IMO.
It's also the last Nintendo game where I really felt that "ooooomph" from EAD, like they were really flexing their muscles to show that they are still one of the best, if not the best developer on the planet. You can tell they really worked their asses off on that game.
