Apple releases new phone, sells a bazillion phones as hipsters rush out to own the latest and greatest phone, and Apple's marketshare increases dramatically for 1 quarter; over the next 3 quarters, a variety of Android phones are produced by countless manufacturers to meet the needs of individuals throughout the entire market and Android's marketshare slowly climbs to a new high.

By hipsters do you mean people who don't want their phones overheating from simply checking their emails, screens constantly locking, having to remove their batteries having to get removed when the phone completely gets locked up.

I own a Droid 3 and its probably the worst experience I ever had with a phone. It's just too bad that I need internet access on the go or I wouldn't think twice about downgrading to one of my basic phones until I can get my next upgrade. Most of my friends also own android devices and have the same exact experience. The phone works decent enough when we first got it, but quickly deteriorated into barely useable garbage. On the other hand my friends with iphones never complain about their phones. Hardly ever deal with lag, don't hardreset their phones daily. Sure it's really lame how closed the platform is, and I absolutely hate Itunes, but if it means having a phone that works, I am willing to deal with those issues.

I don't know if android phones fixed these issues with their more recent models, but I'm not giving them another chance. I can't take the chance of dealing with such a crappy experience for another 2 years. I will be changing to Iphone or Windows 8 phone. And many people I know who got an android phone two years ago are planning on changing to an iphone just to not deal with the headaches.
