Retailers such as Gamestop & Amazon and others have been taking pre-orders unofficially for many months now for Gears of War: Judgment. And yes Vghcartz tracking has declined in accuracy lately but don't use that to assume GeoW:J is matching or surpassing GoW:A pre-orders because if anything that game is even more undertracked, if Vgchartz can happily leave God of War III undertracked by 800,000+ then it wouldn't surprise me if God of War: Ascension is heavily undertracked too.
The USA is both GoW's and GeoW's strongest region and GoW is much bigger in Japan (GoW3 sold over 500K) and bigger in Europe (GoW3 sold over 2m), if God of War: Ascension is already beating GeoW:J by a large margin in the USA pre-orders weekly and overall then it's 100% going to outsell it globally. Is this surprising though? Unlike the new God of War nobody cares about the new Gears of War game because it's lead protagonist is a character only a minority of fans liked, it's made by a different developer, releasing far too soon after Gears 3 and it's a prequel to a weak story arch that doesn't have anything meaningful left to tell. I loved Gears of War 1 & 2 but I am so unhappy with Gears 3 (has great MP though) and the new game looks worse, I know a lot of people feel as I do and I think it'll reflect with GeoW:J's sales.
