The best way to get around a situation like with d21lewis's daughter is to jailbreak your console, do a backup of the NAND to sd card, do the wii u transfer, then restore the backup you made to the original Wii console. You get to keep all your saves on both machines. VC and downloaded games work on both provided you don't go on to the Wii Shop channel on the original Wii. If you do, none of them will work on the original wii. Doesn't effect WiiU functionality.
