Some weird choices there, I know, but I was trying to look from the eyes of me at the time, being a kid with limited access to the entire library of NES games. Actually I never got a NES till... 1994 that was IIRC? So some of the games below are not even NES games, these're games for Dendy (hardware clone of Famicom). Yeah, small elephant Dendy (not to be confused with dAndy):

Darkwing Duck. Not sure why but I always liked Disney-related Capcom games though never was particallay a fan of a show, it was before the time every movie-licensed game = crap. Remember rumors about the sequel, which I eventually was able to get my hands on. Imagine my frustration after I rent the cart and took it to home only to see this. Well, still better than nothing :D

Chip'n Dale. Same as above, except this one was 2 player co-op game, which makes it even better in some way. Though co-op it is, inevitably everyone was trying to be a dick to another player from time to time, so much for co-op. The downside, it's very easy game.

Battle City. Aka, Tank or Tank 1990 on some pirated copies, hidden gem of NES library among 2 player co-op games, too bad it never got an international release and didn't receive much of acclaim it deserves outside of Japan (so it's technically not even a NES game). Comes with level editor!

Robocop 3. Played it more than it probably deserves just for the intro theme.

Lode Runner. Yet another simple game to play alone, holds a lot of nostalgic value to me. This one has level editor as well!

Honorable mentions: Contra, Battletoads & Double Dragon,  Super Mario Bros. 3, TMNT 2 and tons of more.
