If I were to take a good educated guess, I would say Sony probably gives the publishers a better royalty rate for a period of time, on not only the game, but possibly the other DLC stuff too.
Sony makes lots of these deals with publishers....that's why they do things like, give them extra's and extra games on BluRay disks and whatnot. And it's potentially more lucrative to make these types of deals with Sony, considering they are selling across multiple platforms.
