Dreamcast was much more powerful than N64 and PS.
Then PS2 came along. Then GameCube came along. Then XBOX came along.

What I mean is that, the U may seem really powerful (for some people) right now, but nobody knows what's in store for the other companies.
I'm a little on the fence about the U's power, but being totally honest, I can't really say at this point. It will be interesting to see the console's actual performance on multi-platform tittles from the PS3/360 era, and then the PS4/720 era.

Only time will tell how good the performance of the system is.

Dreamcast much more powerful?  I beg to differ.  I say it was maybe twice as powerful as the n64 at best.  People seem to not realize how powerful the N64s hardware actually was.

Well, I would comment something defending my original argument, but no. Because you are actually right. The N64 was a very powerful piece of hardware, not THAT far from the DC.

My point really, is that DC was more powerful than the consoles of its time.

I know it's not an exact comparison, but I find the DC and U to share a few things in common. I'm not saying either that the U will be WAY below the other new systems. I actually just want to see how good or bad it really does, performance wise, because horse power don't make the best console, but it's still fun to compare and see how they do.

I just can't help but to compare it to the DC at times, but as I said, only time will really tell.

I've also made similar claims.  I feel that if Nintendo doesn't play their cards right, the Wii-U could end up similar to the dreamcast for them.  The problem with that generation was simply the gap between the least powerful console and the most powerful console was insane.  The dreamcast vs the original xbox basically.  Then in the middle you had the PS2 then the Gamecube.  The amazing thing about the gamecube was it could produce visuals similar to the original xbox thanks to its powerPC chip.  Really made it shine.  Basically Nintendo made PowerPC popular.  Yeah I fully understand what you're saying about the Dreamcast/Wii-U.  For some developers I'm sure it feels simply like a bridge to next gen, and not the full package. It will be interesting to see how this pans out for Nintendo.  In the past it has shown bad for companies to release their console too early.
