M&s olympics, wii play, mario party 8, links crossbow training, pokemon battle revolution, and the Rayman games sell so much despite horrible reviews.

Clearly reviewers are out of touch. These games not only have good sales, but are leggy, indicating good word of mouth.

New, fun experiences sell. "Depth," often viewed by reviewers as the be-all end-all, is irrelevant compared to novelty and enjoyability. The Wii remote was so radically new that the system has not even begun to approach a point of saturation for short-session social games.

A couple of the games you mentioned are just dirt cheap, too.

"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
