So, I surprisingly had two friends of mine yesterday say they were going to buy a Wii U at launch. Both are 30 and not huge Nintendo fan boys (though both owned Game Cubes and do enjoy Nintendo's first party offerings).

First one, like me, has no kids and a decent disposable income - he thought Zombi-U looked good and some of the controller applications and the promise of future first party titles were enough for him to make his decision.

The second is actually trading in his X-Box 360 towards it. He recently upgraded his gaming rig and feels that any third party game worth getting he would rather get on the PC, and he never owned a Wii. He figures the Wii U is a good chance to catch up on Nintendo franchises he missed on the Wii and is a huge fan of the Aliens franchise and of Zombie games (Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil are two of his favorite franchises) and thinks the controller uses they demonstrated are interesting.

Just thought this was funny, since most of us (including me) thought Nintendo sold the Wii U so poorly. I should probably point out that neither of them watched any conferences, but just watched some E3 high light trailers here and there.
