Vita can't do anything higher than 720p so if you're videos are 1080p then maybe that's why they don't work. If they are 720p then you're going to have to convert them to H.264 MP4 files. You can use PSP Video 9 to do that. TBH though seems like too much of a hassle to convert them all and you're laptop does seem like the best option.
