KDC is out on bail here in NZ and hasn't been convicted of anything that earned him 10 years in prison. Though if he gets found guilty of copyright breaches the US gov is accusing him of now he might face 50 years. The only thing standing between him and kangaroo court in the USA is New Zealand's judiciary deciding whether the alleged offences are extraditable or not.

I don't know of any murderers who only got 5 years in prison. Wrongful death, manslaughter, assisted suicide of terminal patients, yeah a lot of them get <5 years, but murderers typically get 15 to life first time up.

Now, KDC facing 50 years in prison vs. some finance company directors who were "untruthful" (i.e. didn't lie but failed to tell the whole truth to their investors) and cost thousands of people their life savings getting community service, that's some twisted moral compass right there.
