The caste system is holding india back. Until this outdated system is thrown out a lot of people will miss out on great opportunities to make their lives better.
The so called nice india people that you see in other countries are generally from higher classes. Some a very stuck up by the way they talk (i.e they think they better then everyone), however the genuine ones are very nice people..
They bobble their heads when they are proud of something they say.
They play decent cricket lol. Except this tour of Australia in 2011/12.
But in general i'd say 80% of India is seen as very poor and exploited by a few people. From what we are lead to believe it is developing rapid as more jobs are being outsourced to india (call centers, IT jobs, even factories)
