Uncharted: Golden Abyss was made in a little bit under a year. Developement started in 2011 and finished in 2011. It's the best reviewed game for the Vita so far (I haven't checked in about a week or two though, might have changed). Sony is making a strong profit in Japan. Things will turn around once the games come.

... No chance at all that Uncharted:GA was made in under a year. When it was shown in January 2011 it was clearly pretty far along, it had already been in development for months and months. I would guess maybe 18 months for development.

The studio that made it, Sony Bend, last released a game in 2009, Resistance Retribution, so they definitely had 2 years

I am not quite sure that I agree with this price, while I know that retailers take a cut, I thought the traditional model was for them to take a small cut on the hardware, but make money on the software.

HOWEVER, I have a completely unproven theory without any evidence at all, which is that retailers are taking a larger cut due to the focus on digital software, which I think is the reason for the PSP go's stupid price

Given that they started making a $200 loss JUST from the manufacturing costs of the PS3 versus sale price, this is looking much healtheir financially, but does also show that there is room to react if poor sales do spread throughout the world, but it isn't making me feel too bad about having gone and pre-ordered it yesterday (though I have ended up spending around £350....)
