Every single person complaining about Nintendo's lack of games for the Wii right now is hereby banned from complaining about the Wii U's launch lineup.

You can't have it both ways.

I don't get the logic here, if the Wii U lineup ends up sucking because all of Nintendo is sitting around with their thumbs where the sun doesn't shine why can't I say something about it if the Wii sucked in 2011?

Therepublic's point should have been more along the lines of

Those who complained about the 3DS launch lineup (or praised the 3DS christmas lineup) are hereby banned from complaining about the Wii's 2011.

The thing is, Nintendo are a fairly small company, considering they have recently been developing games for 4 consoles. By contrast, Sony - who has many more developers, only has 3 consoles to make games for, and they will probably stop development for the PSP as they ramp up towards the PS4 launch.

MS, whilst smaller, has only 1(or maybe 2) consoles to develop for at the moment, and they can rely on third parties a bit more.

Nintendo can't give all of it's consoles great years, and this year the Wii took one for the team. Nintendo need to hire more developers, but if they do it too quickly, they will have to sacrifice quality of games, which, as the company with the highest average metacritic score for their games, I am sure they are loath to do.
