The $600 price everyone here is so worried about is a place holder price in Australia in australian dollars. I am sure it will be cheaper in the USA. I still dont get people complaining about a $350 price. It is a reasonable grown over the period betweenwii and Wii u launch, assuming technology also in the Wii U is good. |
Well, when the PS3 price was announced, $1000AUD was worth ~$750 USD. So yes, it was still at a higher price, but by $150 and not $400. Right now, the AUD is worth the same as the USD. So if the WiiU is going to be $150 cheaper in the US, like the PS3 was, than that would give us a price of $450. I'm still sticking with $400, but I think that's going to be too much for the vast majority of Wii buyers to pony up when the console is only going to be slightly better than the PS3 in terms of graphics. When the Wii U launches, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony and MS dropped the prices of their consoles around the same time to $199 (the 250GB SKU for the 360). Then you have the NeXbox and PS4 probably coming in 2013, which will probably only cost $50-100 more than the WIi U, but be much more powerful.
