Not necessarily. It wouldn't be neither extraneous nor off-topic, so as long as it is video game related. I'm also unsure 'bout what would constitute a troll (or a trolling post) pathetic. My guess is in it being inefficacious in 'provoking readers into an emotional response', and as you can plainly see, this thread is a resounding success.
