  • 50. Spyro: Year of the Dragon (PS1) - Better skateboarding than in any Tony Hawk.
  • 49. Tomb Raider Legend (GC, 360) - A game with Lara Croft that doesn't have to rely on Lara Croft.
  • 48. Neutopia II (TG16) - Announcing a sequel in the credits is not cool, if it never gets released.
  • 47. Sonic Rush Adventure (DS) - Marine is great, but the 3D segments are not.
  • 46. GRID (360) - If this game was a Porsche, Forza and Gran Turismo would be Trabis.
  • 45. Terranigma (SNES) - One of the saddest endings in video game history.
  • 44. Trauma Center: New Blood (Wii) - Nothing for emos. You don't cut yourself, just others.
  • 43. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS) - Finally a Castlevania game without unfair bosses.
  • 42. Secret of Mana (SNES) - Lots of broken stuff in this game, but it's for three players.
  • 41. Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City (DS) - A mighty fine dungeon crawler.
  • 40. Metroid Fusion (GBA) - When story started to matter in Metroid games.
  • 39. F-Zero (SNES) - Dated SNES tech demo, but still fun to play. Excellent music.
  • 38. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (MD) - Not sure why this is on my list. To make Smeags happy, I guess.
  • 37. Final Fantasy IX (PS1) - Yes, a good Final Fantasy game. It actually is possible.
  • 36. Super Mario Bros. (NES) - Why even play games on consoles? This is the answer.
  • 35. Resident Evil 4 (GC, Wii) - PS2 version excluded due to poor controls.
  • 34. Baten Kaitos Origins (GC) - When Nintendo didn't care anymore to bring JRPGs to Europe.
  • 33. Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) - When Nintendo didn't care anymore to bring JRPGs to America.
  • 32. Okami (PS2, Wii) - Heavily inspired by modern Zelda, right down to all its weaknesses.
  • 31. Alundra (PS1) - Heavily inspired by old Zelda and Landstalker. That's great.
  • 30. Fire Emblem (GBA) - Rock, Paper, Scissor with some twists.
  • 29. Wave Race: Blue Storm (GC) - Barely any content, but very high replay value.
  • 28. Picross DS (DS) - Highly addictive and much more enjoyable than Sudoku and others.

  • 25. Wario Land: The Shake Dimension (Wii) - A game that lives up to its developer's name.
  • 24. F-Zero X (N64) - One of the very few 3D games of its time that ran at 60 fps.
  • 23. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GC) - More fleshed out than the GBA games.
  • 22. Super Mario World (SNES) - Much longer levels than in SMB3, but also much less power-ups.
  • 21. Atelier Iris 3 (PS2) - 100 % completion in a JRPG that you actually want to replay? Yes.
  • 20. Banjo-Kazooie (N64) - Before Rare went bonkers and thought that bigger is better.
  • 19. New Super Mario Bros. (DS) - Whoever had the idea to make this game is a genius.
  • 18. Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii) - A game that lives up to its name.
  • 17. Metroid Prime (GC, Wii) - The Return of Samus. Pun intended.
  • 16. Super Mario 64 (N64) - Without this, 3D games would have been very primitive a while longer.
  • 15. Picross 3D (DS) - I didn't think this concept would work in 3D, but it does.
  • 14. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - Customizable four player GPs. About damn time.
  • 13. The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Huge world, varied tools and weapons, plus a save feature.
  • 12. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GC, Wii) - Much less cheap backtracking than its predecessor.
  • 11. Mega Man II (NES) - A game to build one of the medium's most expansive brands.

  • 07. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64) - When optional swords still existed.

  • 04. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii) - It took long enough until we got a real Mario game again.
  • 03. Super Metroid (SNES) - The game that was all about Samus Aran's maternal instincts.
  • 02. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - Still waiting for another game like this.
  • 01. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - A game that was a generation ahead of its time.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.
