While you are right that the human species is less significant compared to all spiders, that's not what this thread is about. This thread is concerned with the life of one spider. One human is more important than one spider, which this thread is based upon. One human can acquire power and use it to better the world, save lives of humans, save lives of other species, clean the environment, etc. One spider can do very little in comparison.

Also, Please don't respond to the evolution topic. I want to keep that out of this thread.

that's not what this thread is about at all, this t hread is about discussing what you do when you see a spider.  The popular belief is that it's okay to kill a spider if it scares you (Even if it can't hurt you) since spiders are considered less important than humans.

And I don't want this to turn into an evolution debate either...since there's no debate.  anyone who denies evolution is real should be seeing professional help.

Posthing this again as you seem to respond to every post but mine.

I don't kill spiders out of ignorance, and even if I did, it has nothing to with being civilized or not.

I understand you (and with you, I mean everyone) are motivated to believe we are an advanced race but we're still just automatons for the most part. When we feel threatened and there is no negative consequence for us, we kill the threat. It's that simple. Irrational or not, doesn't matter. And yes, my life is more valuable than a spider's. It's also more valuable than yours. In fact, it's more valuable than any other life I know of. And yes, I feel threatened by large spiders. There is no negative consequence for me to kill it. 1+1=2. I kill the spider, and that's all there is to it.
