I already decided to buy it weeks ago that is the future of games not only games movies as well. The potential is there. I always wished for something like this in the 90s but obviously the tech wasnt there yet. This is the first step into a new future. Also the Price while high for some is justified. Compare that to a 3D TV.

Also the technology behind it is bleeding edge. If Sony would make a 56 inch TV with the same Specs. It would be a TV with a Resolution of 99200x57600 or 57600p . All this as OLED (superior to Plasma/LCD). A TV like that would cost a Million or more. Through the seperation of eyes on two Displays you will get the best possible 3D experience. Also this is just the beginning the potential for this technology is limitless. In 10 years we will have this with seemless perfect 360 degree vision head and eye tracking and the highest possible resolution the human eye can peeceive. In 50 years all this technology will be integrated in contact lenses. If you decide at night you would like to walk in sunlight you will be able to do that. Its for sure the next big thing, a virtual layer above reality. This visor is the first acceptable step into VR.

Just to clarify a "Contact Lens" like you describe, just isn't going to happen. If anything, an eye replacement/direct modification ala Deus Ex: Human Revolution is far more likely, and will happen if allowed.

Also, 1080p is just about the highest resolution the average Human eye can percieve at the moment as well.

Edit: Also, to clarify, discussion resolution in terms of the human eye is quite pointless. As resolution is all respective to the size of the screen your viewing. EX: A 720p 0.7 inch screen is obviously far different then a 720p 70 inch screen.

You forgot aout distance. As a long time HMD owner, I can tell you it doesnt look as good as a TV with similar specs. The eyes are easily able to notice a difference between 720P and 1080P + at 6 feets away of 150 inches. Anyway, the point of those is 3D. By far the best 3D you will ever get, its flawless, just like how you perceive depth in real life.
