Granted, I'm not American but my opinion has always been that it's silly to identify yourself as one choice or the other. If I labelled myself as a democrat for example and my party decided to put forward some idiot as their candidate, I'm not just going to vote for him/her out of some misguided sense of party loyalty, give me a good leader to vote for. Now in the states there's really only 2 options which makes the choice quite difficult if you don't like 1 of the 2 options and is why I think there should always be several choices. 2 only leads to this whole fragmented view of politics, you're either one of us or one of them......it just leads to fighting imo.
