Actually generally only pigs and chickens are raised inhumanely on a massive scale (so excluding foie gras and veal for example) this is mostly because raising beef or mutton inhumanely costs more than just letting them chew grass in a field. At supermarkets where I come from you can easily buy both free-range eggs and chicken and 'happy' (free-range) pork.
