So let's say we get to 8 billion, remove 2/3 = 2.666 billion, remove 2/3 = 888 million. So your 500 million isn't too far off those prophecies. I expect something pretty drastic to happen, because all the wake up calls we've had over the last century or so don't seem to have lead to any real fundamental changes in the way we interact. I do think we will eventually get a world government. Whether it's by 2100 or not I'm not sure. I think we need it before then but it seems as a race we are fairly slow learners despite our apparently massive intellect. Oh well, we live and learn...or not as the case may be. |
