glad to see so many people appreciate a creative risk taker, even if they come up short on occasion.

In that respect I have to nominate Yoshio Sakamoto as a truly heroic developer. The man is responsible for the Metroid concept and many of the games in the series since the early days. He also worked on many of Nintendo's more outlandish series such as Kid Icarus and Wario World/Wario Land. In recent years he is responsible for the mega-hit (Japan only) Tomodachi Collection, not to mention he is the inventor of the WarioWare series of games. A series which even Miyamoto was quoted last gen as saying he "wishes he had invented"... His most recent game "Metroid: Other M" is one of the most ballzy endeavors Nintendo have taken upon themselves this generation, and considering we're talking about the same generation that brought us motion-controls, Wii-Fit and Wii Music, that's saying a lot!

If all that isn't enough then I have saved the most important reason for last: the man toils away for decades at Nintendo, producing awesome games, all the time knowing full well he will be obscured by the shadow of Miyamoto. His self stated mission at the company is to "always come up with something very different from what Mr. Miyamoto is likely to do". Considering most of Miyamoto's work gains almost instant universal praise, taking on such a role would be considered suicide by many a developer. Yet the man still toils away in his (up till relatively recent) obscurity. Definitely a hero in my book.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
