On the other hand there are several other things that sell directly related to the ps3 that could never be accurately calculated. How many ps2s were sold simply because a parents child wanted a ps3 from them for x-mas or birthday and the parent simply could not afford it. How many ps2 games are being sold that are exclusively played on a ps3. You would have to give a big percentage of the blu ray sales to the ps3. Not to mention it being a prime reason the war between hd-dvd is drawing to an end, when at one time it looked like hd-dvd may prevail. I'm sure there are many people who bought a psp because it could be used with the ps3. Like stated before sony hd tvs have been sold solely because of the ps3. All these things can never be calculated with the ps3 but were sold by Sony because of it.
So will Sony as a whole make a net profit off of the ps3? More than certain it will even if it doesn't look like on financial reports about the ps3 itself. |
i aggree with all that we all no sony as a company hasnt lost money yet the made money even year end but this is about the ps3. and with ps3 selling more then 360 as of late and only to keep it up as GTA, DMC4, Haze, Burnout, killzone, MGS4, GT5 Pro etc. etc. it will make money. i mean sony said themselves that they might be in the black in 2008 which means something is going right. and its the ps3 console sales and the games sold which world wide are gaining MUCH ground on 360. microsoft said themselves they wonna try to beat the sony brand in "others" which is very strong even tho it has only been out for 6 months there. this year sony will sale 11 million ps3s. and when microsoft cuts the price expect sony to cut it as well. |

Um, okay. Like I said, the PS3 has only lost ground on the 360 since launch. Stop using staggered launch dates as proof of anything. Do you think developers or Joe Consumer really care who launched first or how they line up against each other with staggered graphs? No, they care about overall sales, potential revenue, and game library. That's it. |

Joe customer is actually buying the wii right now and since the Sony brand KILLED for 10 years the ps3 will be next. Xbox is losing ground and for it not to gain when sonys 1st year was bad (but still better then 360s with no competition and sonys high price tag) then there is no hope but for microsoft to BUY namco and Square.......
and actaully lots of your so called "joe customers" are interested in blu-ray since it will be the standard in a couple of years
