The one thing I've felt is that Nintendo thinks we are stupid. They say "we need to make customers understand the value of 3D." Or maybe they just don't want it Iwata.

I thought Iwata was going to make Nintendo better, but he's making it worse.

I think Iwata used to understand the ways of disruption and Blue Ocean strategy, but he has buckled to pressure from Miyamoto and the other prominent member of the old guard at Nintendo.

It's like Iwata showed up and told Miyamoto "Gamecube has failed and Game Boy has no clear future. Stop making games that suck." And to turn up the pressure, he makes an experimental team which creates Brain Age.

And Miyamoto is like "Gee, I better stop making games that suck." And he comes up with Wii Fit and Nintendogs, and takes too much credit for Wii Sports and the Wii remote.

And then, a few years later, Miyamoto shows up and is like "We're back on top! NOW can I make games that suck!!??"

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
