The 3DS wouldn't come with the console... It'd just be an option for a controller

3 time as powerful as PS3 isn't as huge of a leap as you seem to think. Sony said PS3 is 35 time more powerful than PS2. While it maight not be exactly that, it's an indication of how to look at the numbers being tossed around.

Also, the 3DS is made up of many components, with the screen being just one. A user posted a tablet with a 6" screen that cost around $50 a few days ago, the controller won't be that much more expensive than current ones.
