Looks like another rail shooter to me. The character just runs and avoid obstacles while the player waves his hand to rotate the camera and aim. This is not hardcore.

Why do people make comments when they don't even bother to watch the videos or read the story?

"I was able to strafe left and right while running with subtle movements of my left hand"

"From time to time, the game threw obstacles my way that I either had to doge or jump over, the latter action requiring only a simply upward tug with my left hand."

You control the side to side and jumping movement with your left hand, the character is not avoiding obstacles on his own.  He is moving forward on his own but it's not entirely on rails.

There are also side scrolling sections of the game where you are controlling the movement.

its still on rails.

in extraction there were a few sequences were you could move your character, but the game was still on rails (but it didnt have auto aim like this game does)

How is painting targets with your right hand auto-aim?

Also, you failed to read (or more likely just ignored) what I was actually responding to in his post which is his claim that the character does everything himself and you only move the camera and aim.

as i said, having some say in your movement doesnt mean its not a rail shooter.

if you look at the video, its clearly heavily aim assisted (if you dont want to use the term auto aim)

pretty much all you do is get the (giant) reticule close to the target, and it does the rest for you.
