I agree that these things definitely need to be fixed. Nintendo lost a lot between the SNES and N64. They failed to adjust properly to the Playstation onslaught of the mid 90's. I think that was the key moment where there 3rd party support fell apart and honestly i don't know why (poor choice of cartridge format? the wow factor of the PS1 on the scene?). I do agree with you that they need to set there bar a little higher on their system specs, but truthfully i like the direction they took with the Wii. While it wasn't executed perfectly (they should have released a more accurate controller to begin with), i do believe that direction of video game systems still should be about gameplay. Anyone can release a system with high end specs and  decent controller, but what are they doing to add something new. I truelly believe that systems won't and don't need to get anymore advanced as far as graphics go, but need to find new ways of fun and interactive gameplay. Ways that still give game developers the ability be creative on their end and also ways that aren't just gimmicks.
