I got the idea from the 1000's of sites, this one included that posted the high probability of it. Now that it is clear then that actually isn't necessarily a good thing. Android compatibility could have given NGP a vast array of easily recompiled apps. In terms of differentiation from the competition (3DS) that would be a good thing.
As for your statement that PS3 had poor security... perhaps, but 360 was compromised practically before launch, so (even if hackers weren't "seriously" working on it for more than a year or so) it still took a while.
