For the people asking, my resarch says that plasmas have the best response times and refresh rates and are ideal for fast moving scenes like games and sports (they say the LCD's are much better than before but they still fall just short of the plasmas in my price range of $1500).

I've found a problem I am getting with reviews is that alot of people are comparing different classes of TV, for example saying a $3000 plasma is better than a $800 LCD/LED therfore plasmas are better or vice versa.

I need some more opinions of competing technology in the same price range.

Plasma TV's beat LCD's in almost every way possible 7-8 years back but a lot has changed since then. Namely the fact that most manufacturers have gone for LCD as the main picture tech to advance and sell, for various reasons. LCD screens have about 87% marketshare in the HD market now and its slowly growing, making plasma all but obsolete within another 7-8 years (by which time you'll probably have a new TV anwyay).

I spend a lot of time watching Blu-ray and I play a lot of games on my TV as well as watch History channel, Discovery and Eurosport in HD and I never even considered as plasma screen, the list of reasons to choose one over an LCD display panel is getting very, very short indeed and, like I said, manufacturers will probably start fazing out the plasma alltogether within several years (6-8).

PS: As long as you stay clear of 3D tech, LCD's are very reasonably priced now compared to a couple of years back. My TV halved in price in a little over a year.
