Odin Sphere separates itself from FFX and Kingdom Hearts by having a narrative that's legitimately excellent in the context of the genre and the medium. Many different stories running in parallel, leading up to an Apocalyptic finish. Just great.
Save often, though, the game gets pretty tough.
