2 bundles vs 1

dont know why sony didnt release 349 160gb with move

i believe the whole move starter pack cost about $50 to manufacture

a ps3 320gb probably cost around the same as the 160gb i would guess thats like $280

so its more of a trick b/c people think there getting a console that cost $350 since the 320gb replaced the 250gb that were $350 months ago and there getting the move starter pack for another $50 instead of the stand alone price of $100

when in reality is just a trick by sony to profit more so there probably making a $70 profit on those $400 move console bundles compared to a $20 they would had they bundled it with the 160gb

so i guess i answered my own question

but it still doesnt make sense arent they not profiting much with the stand alone 160gbs? they wouldnt be losing any more had they bundled move with it for $349

Sales of the hardware profit wise are pointless to discuss...the real importance is getting your hardware in peoples hands so that they can buy your games....the profit is in the games/online presence(content), not the hardware.

No.  It's never pointless to discuss the profit of hardware.

It is when it revolves around console hardware, if the makers could produce $0 consoles in order to sell their software and make their investors happy, we'd all be sporting $0 consoles.

The money in games is online content and software, it is not in making $20 off of 500,000 console sales.

Err... what?

If you're going to bring investors into this then you know why it's important. If you're going to invest in a console you need to consider both the cost of developing the hardware as well as the software if you're going to think about profit model. In your profit model software sales may make the most money, but you can't act as though the hardware numbers dont exist.

There's also peripheral sales, which I think are really profitable.
