Having played several MMO games, in my opinion Warhammer online was an excellent skeleton of a game that lacked the polish to make it something (particularly) special or interesting. On top of that, choosing to use "Warhammer" rather than "Warhammer 40K" was a massive mistake because it put it in much more direct competition with World of Warcraft; and (while there were many improvements in Warhammer online) on the whole Warhammer was a worse game that had less to offer.
While I haven't played it, I already anticipate that the battle with The Old Republic will be trying to satisfy the dedicated MMO players while satisfying dedicated Starwars fans without alienating everyone else.
