i'm going to go the complete opposite direction.  don't get me wrong - personally i think 3D is the most amazing thing ever but i've been watching the news reports and box office numbers and things don't look so good for 3D.  consumer interest seems to be wanning.

3DS will probably be successful but imo it will be successful despite 3D not because of it.  i'm not sure what sony should go for but trying out some sort of alternative tech is probably a good idea.  maybe it's just me but i would be interested in a tablet style of device.

I think 3D when it comes to movies and 3D in gaming could be very different experiences. I think the issue you're seeing with box-office 3D stuff is that a lot of it feels tacked on and gimmicky and, quite frankly, not very well done. I believe that if it's utilized well and isn't something that's just slapped on (example: Clash of the Titans wasn't filmed in 3D, they 'converted' it after 3D took off), then 3D might show some real promise. There are many ways in which a game could be positively enhanced with a good 3D effect, and I think Nintendo has the ability to pull this off. Personally I'm done with 3D movies; I've seen a couple of them and I didn't care for the effects, but I'm all for trying out the 3DS and seeing what it can do for games.

Bah!
