There's a reason why "nerd basement" has negative connotations.
There is no reason why these games need to be limited to people willing to tolerate their eccentricities. If they could manage to make these games without the corniness, bad acting and dialogue, they could be a) more enjoyable, b) appealing to more people and c) you could enjoy them with other people. You might even be able to move your Wii, out of the bedroom/basement and into the sitting room where it belongs.
