So where is the current institutionalized racism in the US?

@Farmland - I'm not trying to argue that any racism in the US is acceptable. I just don't think its fair to bash the US for racism when there isn't a country nearly as large as us with the amount of minorities in our country.

I would have to guess he means Affirmitive Action... because it's MUCH less racist to pretend races don't exist and that racism doesn't exist even though there are 30%+ percentage point difference between races. (France.)

Europe isn't less racist.  Just more willing to cover their eyes and pretend they are less racist.

Yes, I'm talking about Affirmitive Action, which is institutionalized racism. Benefits given to some people because just because of their race is pure racism (benefits to minorities too).

I have heard of people that systematically abuse it by saying their part of a minority, even though they're only like 25% black or latino. They don't give those benefits to the ones who probably deserve more, regardless of race.

The truth is, Affirmitive Action is racist, giving benefits to those who probably have not even been hurt by whatever the US government did dozens of years ago.

How fair is that a recently US-nationalized minority immigrant can get a job over a better-qualified, poor, white person?

How fair is that universities have to reject applications from white students, because they are forced to accept students from minorities (some of which under-qualified)?

How fair is that companies have to turn down employees for being white, in order to fill their minority quota imposed by the government?

Europe is definitely less racist than the US. Here's a thought, how about give the benefits to the better man, whichever the race? That seems to work here.

Er... it DOESN'T work there... that's why many Europeon countries have HUGE wage gaps... additionally the US produces more value per work hour then any Europeon Country.

When you control for credentials, people from Africa get screwed.  The best man DOESN'T get the job in France.   MUCH more often.  So no... it clearly DOESN'T work.

Lets look at some of theses Affirmitive Action laws...

Also, the vast majority of Affirmitive Action laws just mean "You can't discriminate in hiring."  With actually someone keeping an eye on the people... you know, unlike Europe.

There are very few quota based things... and even then it's less about "affirmitive action" and more about benefits.  It's actually shown in studies that having a racially and culturally diverse university creates a better learning enviroment for everybody.

Job "quotas" usually only deal with Police Forces and other similar jobs.... which is once again done for the benefit of the community.   If your Police Force is roughly the same makeup as your community... the community is going to trust it a LOT more.

Being of a different race and culture actually has benefits in those areas.

Affirmitive Action ain't perfect... but it's a hell of a lot better then the Europeon "Oh racism doesn't exist, lets cover our eyes and pretend" attitude.
