Kratos just killed my PS3

Excellent, Thanks dude.  I'll probably buy a slim, but I've just been looking at this guide:  http://playstationlifestyle.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2376     I might give it a go tomorrow (I've got nothing to lose!)

Buddy of mine tried one of those and it did do a temp fix.
