No, that's how you're reading it. And if NES games required a few hundred thousand sales to make a profit, then PS2 games would have astronomical costs.
And it's not that sales that indicate Madworld and Conduit made a profit. Sega SAID so. And as for Extraction, I'm merely not calling it a flop, not calling it a huge success.
So don't pretend I claimed something other than I did.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
