I wonder if/when we will ever see correct PS2 numbers here.

Probably sooner than we get correct Valkyria figures. ;)

What's wrong with VC figures, exactly?

Brett says he is happy with them.

Wheras, im 99% positive i've seen him (or maybe it was The Source) say the PS2 numbers are wrong.

Valkyria's massively overtracked in America on VGC.  NPD has a ltd of ~130k US.

Valkyria is massively undertracked on NPD.

lol.  Hope springs eternal.

ioi actually said they're probably overtracking it here.  Who knows if we'll actually see an adjustment though.

I wouldn't say so.

I would say though that you have as much proof as i do.

We can't say if it is overtracked until shipment data is released.

Link to him saying that? Last i saw he said he was happy with the VC numbers.

I like how easily you can pick and choose trackers.  I personally will always defer to NPD where possible, I just think the higher coverage will yield more accurate results.  I think VGC's important too though, and I think their visibility and transparency is key, even if they do comparably have a bit of a record of overtracking the little guys.  I'd love to hear your reasoning for going with VGC on Valkyria, yet not for PS2 though?

ioi said he's happy enough, though admitted overtracking is definitely possible.  He originally attributed higher VGC figures to brisker Wal-mart recently, to which I pointed out they don't even stock the title nationwide anymore.  It happened in last month's NPD thread, probably near the end.

At the end of the day though, if the game had the game even shipped over 500k total, I think we'd have at least heard about it by now.  Sega's silence is pretty telling imo.

My reason for saying VGC is bad for PS2 vs DS, is because of admitted undertracking.

My reason for saying VGC is good for VC, is because of ioi's confidence in the numbers.

Maybe we would have heard something, maybe not. Im sure though with VC2 releasing shortly, it wont be too long until we get a "Series has shipped..." thing.

I'm not seeing all that much confidence.  It looks more like indifference ("we might be high, NPD might be low").  ioi could come in here and clarify his position though, but a more than 2:1 difference is pretty massive between trackers.

I think we'll probably get a "series has shipped" figure if it hits 1m sometime after Valkyria 2 releases.  That's a huge "if" though, considering Enterbrain+NPD have VC1 at 350k for the world's 2 biggest markets.   Might not happen until VC3.
