The other day my friend(who works at gamestop) and I had this conversation about genres and how they are today compared to about(10+)years ago. just to sum it up here is what we thought.

1)RPG's- Slowly dying, mostly JRPG's, not saying they won't be around, but people who we mostly talk to about RPG's are atleast in there late teens or older. it seems the younger generation isn't into this type of gaming

2)Shooters- becoming the most popular amoung the gaming community young and old.(about 7+) we thought that the main reason why this genre is taking off so well is because people want to show the dominace(mostly towards seasoned/veteran gamers) and for the younger gen, think that plaing rated M games is a quick way to be the illusionary "hardcore gamer"

3)PRated M games- attract the younger gen gamers with their mindlesss violence(not that we don't also enjoy it) but again he just laughs at the attempts kids try to pull in order to buy a rated M copy of DMC4, Prototype, GTAIV, etc. or how they try to convice their parents how they play these games all the time. or how many kids approached me asking me to buy them some M rated game. me mostly talked about these topics. so what are you opinion on these genre's or any others that come to mind? I haven't been around all this gaming gen(born 1991) so your opinions/thoughts are welcomed.
