ToS better than TotA? Why?

I would pick Symphonia over Abyss myself, but ToA is a stand-alone world. Where symphonia is expanded upon the established world of Aselia, as seen in Tales of Phantasia, Symphonia, and Knight of Ratanok. So in my opinion? Play Tales of Abyss first.
