I am indie dev and I study and work with computers. I think I have been playing longer than most of you have even lived(That would be about 24 years.).I really don't like HD consoles. Their only purpose seem to be like PC, but they still aren't anything like PC. Playing just about any core game on HD consoles isn't really enjoyable, because they have been dumbed down way too much and they have been made too arcade and easy. My mind just screams 'This crap would belong to kindergarden, if there wasn't any blood.' .Other than core games actually are enjoyable. I mean games like Buzz, guitarhero etc.. Imo nintendo got it right this time and made console like consoles should be. Easy to use, fun to use and funny games. Just like nes, snes etc.

So for me its more like.

PC>wii>HD consoles

WTF dude, your contradict your self, you say that you don't like HD games because they are dumbed down, too arcady and easy, and then proceed to praise Nintendo despite the wii being further dumbed down from the HD games, having tons of easy arcady games designed for the non gamers, and well it's just full of party mini games.

I can understand if you like the wii and it's games, but it's saying stuff like this makes you lose all credibility.

Also your missing the point about the HD consoles or any console, essentially they are providing the entertainment part of a PC in a simple, cheap unit that plugs into the tv and is easy to use because everything is simplified and to the point, just remember, just because you can setup your PC with your tv and know how to install games and all that jazz doesn't mean others do.

Also as a gaming platform it is cheaper and easier than a PC, even when the PS3 installs it's all automated unlike installing a PC game which requires input before the game installs, then theirs the fact you have to know what your PC specs are in order to know if the PC game can run as per the game requirements, all this is removed when moving to console, and this is one aspect which made console as popular as they are today, not only that but any fool can pick up a PS3/360 or wii game and instantly know that it'll work on their respective console, again the same can not be said for PC unless your know your specs.

Now just because you have this backwards idea that a console should just play game and nothing more doesn't mean others feel the same, their is nothing wrong with having these other functions, after all we live in a world were devices do more than one thing, it's just convinient, and the Iphone proves this, otherwise it would have bombed...so let me ask you, what's so wrong about the HD consoles having all these media options added on top of gaming?
