The core gamer abandoned Nintendo years before the Wii. And it only looks like the core did that to the PS3 because they are just claiming that is so. It's just the same audience that refused to embrace the Wii in the first place.
And this audience is not the core gamer. It's a vocal minority that is too full of itself to get the Wii in the first place.
Hit games tell us who the core gamers favor, and those are spread out, not focused on any one system.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
