@superchunk You have no idea what you're talking about.Allow me to enlighten you.

1. It makes perfect business Sense to make the MJ music exclusive to Singstar which is in turn EXCLUSIVE to the PS3. I myself own a Wii and would love to get this game or an MJ Rockband on my wii but knowing it might not happen, it will likely speed up me buying a PS3 for singstar. Seeing you being hysterical about this game not being on your wii proves sony right that they are making the right decision. It was their luck that they got an IP that could add value to their console and they should use it as such.

2. Lets say a game with MJ music on it sells 1 Mil copies worldwide if it was multiplat. 300k Would be on sony while 700k would be on other platforms. If even 60k More PS3s are sold as a result of the MJ-MUSIC IP being exclusive, it would make it more profitable for sony. This is as a result that 60k more people would buy the game for a Sony Console. Royalty Rights for 1 game would be at most $5 while profit for one game would be about $20 for an extra singstar being sold. Relatively speaking, if during their life time, if on average 50k of those console users buy either 4-5 games and movies on blu-ray, it would make the profit for sony exceed what it would have gotten by licensing the product.

3. From a marketing standpoint for Sony, allowing the contents to be exclusive on singstar gives it something much better than what 'lips' - The Video Game offers.

4. MJ-Music is a popular IP. It only makes sense for the MJ estate to make the game multi-plat as the direct profit from the licensing rights would go into their pocket. From Sony's standpoint, it makes sense to make it exclusive so that it generates more profit but in an indirect way that SONY can keep. Much like how it would have been great for Sony to have GTA:IV and Final Fantasy XIII being exclusive but Rockstar and Square-Enix thought it would be more profitable for them. Much like how if Sony didn't have control over the IP of LBP, it would have sold really well multi-platform.... millions more including on the Wii.

So all in all, Sony is absolutely right to Make 'Singstar' exclusive to the PS3 but also right to make the MJ-Music exclusive to 'Singstar' because if it wasn't, people would not be forced into buying a PS3. So count me day 1 buying a ps3 when Singstar MJ is released(if it is).

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!
